Responsibilities
- Design and evolve core Windows Print and Scan platform components for secure, reliable, extensible experiences at global scale.
- Own platform architecture and the long-term quality, reliability, security, performance, and maintainability of critical production features.
- Set technical direction across Windows OS internals, cloud-connected services, and industry standards.
- Drive partner adoption, customization, standards-based integration, and extensibility across hardware and software ecosystems.
- Use data, telemetry, and customer insights to guide architecture, reliability improvements, and AI-driven capabilities.
- Apply AI-assisted engineering practices to improve developer productivity, code quality, operations, and customer outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, conduct design reviews, mentor engineers, and promote technical excellence.
- Meet security, privacy, compliance, and required Microsoft Cloud background-check expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building production-quality systems.
- Solid system design, debugging, logging, telemetry, and diagnostics experience.
- Production-quality C and/or C++ coding experience.
- Experience shipping reliable, secure, and maintainable software, including security hardening, diagnosability, and reliability practices.
- Experience with Windows OS platform components, system services, or drivers is preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud-connected services and distributed systems is preferred.
- Experience collaborating across teams and with hardware partners or external vendors is preferred.
- Experience mentoring other engineers and driving technical decisions is preferred.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
