Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality Python software and algorithms for high-throughput sequencing data analysis, genome analysis, and interpretation.
- Support the data lifecycle and integration of bioinformatics pipeline outputs and scientific databases within the decision support platform.
- Contribute to discovery, software design, testing, deployment, and production release activities.
- Write documentation covering decisions, designs, tests, results, and process traceability.
- Work proactively within an agile squad and provide bioinformatics subject matter expertise.
- Ensure software delivery and clinical laboratory work adhere to relevant standards and accreditations.
Requirements
- Excellent Python coding skills.
- Solid bioinformatics knowledge, including standards, data formats, and toolchains used in next-generation sequencing and clinical genomics.
- Familiarity with NGS tertiary annotation tools and databases.
- Proficiency in Linux, Git, and Postgres or a similar relational database management system.
- Strong experience developing production-quality algorithms and software for large datasets.
- Excellent technical writing skills and demonstrated effectiveness working in agile squads.
- Experience building code using CI/CD.
- MSc-equivalent or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with AWS serverless technologies, including Lambda, Step Functions, and S3, is desirable.
- Experience with containerized applications and Docker is desirable.
