Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction and hands-on implementation of API-first architecture across the company.
- Design, build, operate, and evolve high-scale APIs for internal teams, external customers, and intelligent agents.
- Lead agentic workflows involving orchestration, state management, tooling, and integration patterns.
- Drive API standards, design principles, and best practices through implementation and technical reviews.
- Solve ambiguous, complex cross-team technical problems and reduce systemic technical risks.
- Partner with Product, Platform, and SRE teams to ensure APIs are reliable, observable, secure, and scalable.
- Mentor senior engineers and raise technical standards through hands-on example.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a senior staff- or principal-level software engineer working on applications and backend systems.
- Experience building product platforms or shared services consumed by multiple product teams.
- A proven track record designing, building, and operating APIs at scale.
- Strong hands-on experience with RESTful APIs.
- Some experience designing, using, or operating GraphQL in production.
- Deep understanding of system design, performance, reliability, and long-term system evolution.
- Strong hands-on contribution, ownership, and cross-team technical influence skills.
- Preferred: experience with agentic or AI-driven workflows.
- Preferred: familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar agent integration patterns.
- Preferred: experience with large-scale distributed systems, API governance, versioning, backward compatibility, and collaboration with platform and SRE teams.
