Base Salary
$180k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own delivery of LLM-powered systems in Python and TypeScript from ambiguous customer problems through production operation.
- Define evaluation, release-gating, guardrail, human-approval, and production-monitoring strategies for an AI product area.
- Design NLP pipelines combining LLMs, semantic search, and classical NLP to convert unstructured claims data into structured customer-ready data.
- Build and operate durable, event-driven, multi-tenant systems with deterministic orchestration, explicit failure modes, replay semantics, idempotency, backpressure, and cost controls.
- Improve the team's use of agentic coding tools by defining specifications, instruction files, hooks, permission policies, and review standards.
- Own model-call and agent-step tracing, auditability, source citation, privacy, tenant isolation, least-privilege access, redaction, retention, and model-provider data controls.
- Author cross-team technical design documents, review designs and code, mentor engineers, collaborate with product managers and data scientists, and participate in on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including architecting, externally shipping, and migrating an LLM-powered system.
- Advanced Python and TypeScript experience, including setting conventions for async behavior, typing, testing, and performance optimization.
- Experience defining evaluation and guardrail strategies, human-approval requirements, and processes for feeding production corrections back into evaluations.
- Daily production experience constraining and verifying agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
- Experience designing pipelines that combine LLMs, semantic search, and classical NLP, including defensible retrieval designs.
- Experience designing durable event-driven systems with deterministic orchestration around non-deterministic model steps, including compensating actions, idempotency, backpressure, and event-sourced replay.
- Experience with relational, document, and graph databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Neo4j, including partitioning, consistency, and tenant-isolation decisions.
- Experience architecting and operating systems on Azure or AWS, with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and a durable workflow engine such as Temporal or Durable Task Scheduler.
- Experience authoring technical designs spanning multiple teams and communicating trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred experience with React, agent frameworks, LangGraph, PydanticAI, Microsoft Agent Framework, MCP, A2A, command-line tools, microservices, LangSmith, Arize, Braintrust, OpenTelemetry, AI feature A/B testing, and insurance, claims, or automotive repair domains.
