Responsibilities
- Design and implement Go and TypeScript backend services, GraphQL APIs, and Kafka-based event pipelines.
- Plan and execute large-scale application modernization, replatforming, data migration, and schema migration efforts with minimal disruption.
- Deploy, operate, debug, and improve services running on AWS and Kubernetes in collaboration with platform engineers.
- Own reliability, observability, repeatability, testing, and production behavior for shipped systems.
- Consult with enterprise clients, guide them through architecture and delivery decisions, and identify potential problems and unknowns.
- Design and operate event-streaming systems, databases, APIs, messaging systems, and distributed applications.
- Contribute to technical communication through architecture discussions, code reviews, conferences, training, meetups, and content.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of Go, including concurrency patterns, and practical server-side TypeScript/Node experience.
- Experience designing and building GraphQL APIs, including schemas, resolvers, performance, N+1 issues, dataloaders, caching, pagination, and preferably federation.
- Experience designing and operating Kafka-based event-streaming systems, including topics, partitions, consumer groups, schema management, ordering, delivery guarantees, and consumer lag.
- Database schema design and development experience, including query performance and safe schema evolution.
- Hands-on experience architecting, deploying, and operating production systems on AWS, including networking, IAM, messaging, and data services.
- Understanding of distributed-systems scaling, concurrency, backpressure, caching, failure modes, microservices, and serverless applications.
- Experience planning and executing application, data, schema, platform, or cloud migrations with minimal downtime.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, modern delivery practices, and observability using logging, metrics, and tracing.
- Working comfort with Kubernetes, including deploying and debugging services in a cluster.
- Preferred experience includes Kafka production operations, Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, schema registries, ClickHouse, Lambda and Kappa architectures, REST, gRPC, authentication and authorization technologies, automated testing, AWS SQS/SNS, RabbitMQ, Terraform/OpenTofu, GitOps, ArgoCD, Flux, Helm, Temporal, Airflow, or Prefect.
- Candidates must be located in and authorized to work in the United States and must pass a background check.
