Base Salary

$163k - $214k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship production backend services in Go and/or Rust.
  • Build high-throughput telemetry ingestion pipelines using gNMI, NETCONF, and SNMP across large device fleets.
  • Develop RESTful and gRPC APIs for internal consumers and external integrations.
  • Implement time-series storage, event streaming, partitioning, and archival strategies using technologies such as InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, Kafka, and Kinesis.
  • Own service reliability through on-call participation, incident response, post-mortems, observability, and systemic improvements.
  • Deploy containerized services on Kubernetes and maintain Terraform infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Partner with the Principal Architect on production-grade implementations and lead code reviews and mentorship.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of backend software engineering experience shipping production services at scale.
  • Production proficiency in Go and/or Rust.
  • Experience with distributed data systems, event streaming, time-series databases, and high-throughput ingestion pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of consistency models, failure modes, backpressure, idempotency, and processing semantics.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with structured logging, Prometheus or Grafana, OpenTelemetry, metrics, and distributed tracing.
  • Ability to write SQL and work with relational and time-series data models, schema design, and query optimization.
  • Experience with code review, CI/CD, test-driven or test-informed development, on-call, and operational ownership.
  • Preferred experience includes network telemetry protocols or network management platforms, graph databases, YANG, multi-tenant SaaS, open-source infrastructure or observability projects, technical writing, and regulated or security-conscious environments such as FedRAMP or NIST.
