Base Salary
$170k - $205k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and develop network state management systems covering provisioning, configuration management, topology and routing state, and control-plane APIs.
- Scale distributed control-plane systems to support increasing network scale, device counts, and infrastructure complexity.
- Design fault-tolerant, highly available systems for reliable network operations.
- Own initiatives from ideation through development and deployment.
- Mentor engineers, participate in technical assessments and code reviews, and contribute to technical direction.
- Partner with product, operations, and engineering teams on networking needs and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Advocate for CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Deliver tooling used by operations and engineering teams to deploy, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience building production backend systems.
- Proficiency in at least one of Go, Rust, C++, Java, or Python.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts including consensus, state reconciliation, fault tolerance, and high availability design.
- Experience designing and building scalable, reliable APIs or services used by multiple teams.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction.
- Bonus: experience with networking software, routing, switching, BGP, SDN, or control-plane systems.
- Bonus: experience at a cloud provider, hyperscaler, or large-scale data center operator.
- Bonus: familiarity with gNMI, gRPC, or NETCONF.
- Bonus: experience with Kubernetes orchestration or custom controllers/operators.
- Bonus: contributions to open-source infrastructure or networking projects.
