Responsibilities
- Partner with Data Science, Data Platform, Product, and Engineering teams to define Roblox’s data ontology.
- Lead and mentor a growing team of Data Engineers.
- Design, build, and maintain reliable batch and streaming data pipelines for core data sets.
- Develop scalable frameworks and tooling to automate analytics workflows and improve interactions with data products.
- Establish and promote best practices for data operations and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with Data Science, Experimentation, Machine Learning, Data Infrastructure, and Storage teams on integrated analytics solutions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience building scalable ETL pipelines with industry-standard orchestration tools.
- Deep expertise in SQL, PySpark, or Scala.
- 3+ years leading data engineering development directly with business or data science stakeholders.
- Experience building, scaling, and maintaining multi-terabyte data sets and solving large-scale analytics challenges.
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience developing or enhancing ETL orchestration tools or frameworks.
- Experience working within a standard GitOps workflow, including branching, merging, pull requests, and CI/CD systems.
Benefits
- Monthly base salary range of $21,691–$24,604 for roles based at Roblox headquarters in San Mateo, California.
- Office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday unless otherwise noted.
