Responsibilities
- Contribute to key projects influencing how inventory is managed at Zalando.
- Build and maintain scalable, real-time backend, machine-learning, and streaming infrastructure for risk and abuse management.
- Collaborate on the team’s product strategy, roadmap, and backlog.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business context and develop and customize scalable solutions.
- Manage the product development lifecycle from discovery through execution with engineering peers.
- Apply monitoring and alerting practices when maintaining and operating complex systems at scale.
- Explore techniques and propose research initiatives to improve simulation accuracy and efficiency.
- Help define team processes and foster an inclusive, diverse team environment.
Requirements
- Proficiency in a Java-based programming language, such as Kotlin, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Knowledge of PHP is a plus but is not required.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS is a plus.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQLite, or Presto/Trino is a plus.
- An understanding of operating complex systems at scale using monitoring and alerting best practices.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Curiosity about improving simulation accuracy and efficiency and exploring new techniques.
