Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, implementation, debugging, and testing of system and embedded firmware.
- Develop and maintain firmware and supporting software in C, C++, or Python within a Linux environment.
- Create automated tests and scripts to improve firmware validation, test coverage, and engineering efficiency.
- Plan and conduct engineering experiments, record results, and interpret test data.
- Support lab setup, system configuration, hardware bring-up, and firmware testing.
- Investigate firmware behavior and hardware-software interactions using debugging and diagnostic techniques.
- Collaborate with firmware, hardware, silicon, systems, and software engineers to resolve technical issues.
- Document test procedures, experimental results, software changes, and technical findings.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field.
- Foundational programming skills in C, C++, or Python.
- Understanding of computer architecture, embedded systems, firmware, or low-level software concepts.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line development tools.
- Interest in hands-on firmware development, debugging, testing, and hardware-software interaction.
- Ability to document technical work, explain findings, collaborate with engineers, and respond constructively to feedback.
- Preferred qualifications include embedded-software or firmware project experience, microcontrollers or embedded processors, hardware bring-up, lab equipment, Python automation, Git, and continuous integration and delivery practices.
