Base Salary

$213k - $256k/yr

Responsibilities

Lead backend architecture, technical direction, and engineering design standards across production services.
Build scalable Node.js and TypeScript backend systems and API services.
Improve reliability, maintainability, performance, CI/CD workflows, and developer productivity.
Partner with Product Management, QA, and DevOps to translate product goals into technical specifications and delivery plans.
Resolve complex technical challenges, edge cases, bottlenecks, and root causes affecting uptime and resilience.
Mentor software engineers through feedback, design reviews, and technical upskilling.
Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and cloud/API frameworks for the backend platform.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
7+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on complex backend systems, cloud services, and API development.
3+ years of hands-on production experience architecting, building, and maintaining enterprise Node.js and TypeScript services.
Expertise in OpenAPI and API design, plus experience building or optimizing GraphQL queries and mutations.
Familiarity with NestJS and containerized deployment workflows using Docker and Kubernetes.
Proficiency with relational databases, SQL, and database query optimization.
Experience mentoring technical teams, improving engineering processes, and working in Agile environments.
Strong communication, problem-solving, ownership, reliability, testing, and operational-quality skills.

Hybrid work schedule based in the Seattle, Washington office, with three days per week in the office.
