Responsibilities
- Research, design, define, develop, test, document, and implement new computer applications or changes to existing applications.
- Install software packages and personal computer software and help ensure hardware and software operate efficiently.
- Analyze data related to processing problems and develop effective solutions with IT and business associates.
- Advise business unit associates about existing or proposed systems through written and oral communication.
- Participate in developmental projects, large-scale improvement projects, and internal IT technical committees.
- Provide training to programming staff and business associates on technical topics and systems definition.
- Manage several assignments with varying deadlines and provide regular status updates to the Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate selection-criteria experience.
- Proven programming experience covering activities such as research, design, requirements gathering, business-unit collaboration, development, testing, documentation, and production support.
- Ability to advise programming associates on technical and application-related matters.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team, including motivating coworkers in difficult situations.
- Demonstrated analytical skills involving problem definition, data collection or interpretation, fact establishment, and solution development.
- Ability to document procedures and activities clearly using prescribed formats and strong English grammar, punctuation, diction, and spelling.
- Growing verbal and written communication skills for conveying clear and concise information to internal and external customers.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines with moderate supervision.
- Proficiency in programming languages required by the individual business unit.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to perform sustained computer work, prepare written correspondence, and apply logical thinking to solve problems.
