Responsibilities
- Design reusable Python-based automation and analysis frameworks for hardware development programs.
- Integrate bench instruments and custom fixtures using SCPI/VISA, serial, USB, GPIB, and Ethernet interfaces.
- Write and maintain bare-metal and RTOS firmware for MCU-based development and validation fixtures.
- Build hardware-in-the-loop and development rigs and integrate them into CI pipelines for automated firmware regression tracking.
- Capture, store, and surface measurement data through databases, dashboards, and analysis scripts.
- Develop bring-up scripts and debugging utilities for product engineering teams.
- Implement and debug SPI, I2C, UART, USB, CAN, and RF/link interfaces.
- Collaborate with tooling hardware, mechanical, and product software engineers on fixture interfaces and rig bring-up.
- Maintain architecture documentation, validation procedures, and usage guides.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or an equivalent technical field.
- Demonstrated experience building bench automation, hardware-in-the-loop or development rigs, or characterization tooling for physical hardware.
- Strong Python automation skills using pytest or equivalent frameworks, plus instrument control through SCPI/VISA.
- Experience writing embedded C/C++ for microcontrollers, typically ARM Cortex-M, in bare-metal and RTOS environments.
- Hands-on hardware bring-up and bench debugging experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD interfaces.
- Understanding of SPI, I2C, UART, USB, and CAN communication buses, as well as version control and CI pipelines.
- Ability to make independent software architecture decisions, execute pragmatically, and collaborate across hardware, mechanical, and product software teams.
- Experience with drone/UAV development, RF/radio systems, telecommunications hardware, CI-integrated HIL systems, or ruggedized, military, or industrial-grade hardware is desirable.
