Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize core Linux kernel subsystems, including memory management, scheduling, networking, and filesystems.
- Improve container isolation mechanisms and optimize resource usage across large numbers of virtual machines and containers.
- Debug kernel issues using tools such as kprobes, ftrace, perf, and gdb.
- Collaborate with upstream maintainers to merge patches into the Linux kernel.
- Represent Virtuozzo at professional conferences including Open Source Summit, FOSDEM, and Linux Foundation events.
Requirements
- Strong C programming skills and experience working close to the operating system.
- Knowledge of at least one Linux kernel subsystem.
- Familiarity with syscalls, kernel/user-space interfaces, and Linux internals.
- Clear English communication skills for code reviews and conference presentations.
- Preferred: open-source project contributions, deep knowledge of namespaces, cgroups, or KVM, Python scripting, and familiarity with container or kernel-build pipelines.
