Responsibilities
- Design and implement Java and Spring Boot backend services across domain, business logic, persistence, and API layers.
- Analyze legacy Java/Spring code, Oracle schemas, and PL/SQL and re-implement business logic with behavioral-parity tests.
- Build PostgreSQL schemas, JPA/Hibernate mappings, versioned migrations, and tuned queries.
- Develop Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration and reconciliation tooling to support parallel operation and safe cutover.
- Develop contract-first REST APIs using OpenAPI for operational portals and integrated systems.
- Implement asynchronous integrations and event flows with retries, idempotency, and error handling.
- Deliver operational-platform data feeds into Databricks in cooperation with data engineers.
- Write unit, integration, contract, and Testcontainers-based automated tests.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and Azure deployments across development, test, and production environments.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting and participate in troubleshooting and production readiness.
- Collaborate with the Business Analyst and Product Owner on user stories and acceptance criteria and conduct code reviews.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of commercial experience as a Java backend developer, with hands-on coding as the primary recent activity.
- Strong programming skills in Java and Spring Boot and familiarity with the Spring ecosystem.
- Strong PostgreSQL and Oracle skills, including SQL, JPA/Hibernate, schema migrations, performance tuning, and the ability to understand PL/SQL.
- Experience reading, refactoring, and safely migrating legacy codebases and business logic.
- Experience building REST APIs and asynchronous message-driven integrations using technologies such as Kafka, Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, or IBM MQ.
- Working knowledge of Azure services such as AKS, App Service, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault, and Entra ID.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes containerization.
- Strong unit, integration, and contract testing discipline.
- Experience with business-critical, highly available systems where reliability and correctness are important.
- Experience using AI coding assistants or agentic workflows in day-to-day delivery.
- Good English communication skills and a pragmatic implementation-oriented approach.
