Responsibilities
- Turn agreed product scope into working products and testable releases.
- Design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations.
- Build frontend experiences that connect backend services to users.
- Apply and improve advanced AI-assisted workflows across development, testing, and validation.
- Integrate AI capabilities where they add product value.
- Use data, user insights, and hypotheses with product and design colleagues to guide implementation and validate outcomes.
- Improve software performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Contribute to deployment, maintenance, and operation while taking responsibility for delivered software in production.
- Help establish effective AI-native product development practices across the wider organisation.
Requirements
- Strong engineering expertise in frontend or backend development, or both, including architectural trade-offs, automated testing, debugging, and production monitoring.
- Hands-on frontend experience with React or a comparable framework.
- Hands-on backend experience with Node.js and JavaScript or TypeScript, including APIs, integrations, and data handling.
- Experience using AI across substantial parts of product delivery, including advanced agent-based or spec-driven workflows.
- Ability to structure work for AI, provide context, evaluate resulting software, and take responsibility for production outcomes.
- Experience working in a product organisation and cross-functional team with product managers and designers.
- Ability to use data and user insights to test hypotheses, validate value, and share responsibility for outcomes after release.
- Experience with backend services or systems in Rust and/or Python is a bonus.
- Experience with AWS and distributed, event-driven, or serverless systems is a bonus.
- Experience with automated delivery pipelines, infrastructure as code, mobile development, experimentation tooling, user-experience metrics, or AI/ML product integration is a bonus.
- Curiosity, ownership, willingness to challenge existing practices, and a collaborative approach to knowledge sharing.
