Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain AWS and Azure infrastructure across multi-account, multi-region environments.
- Create reusable and auditable infrastructure-as-code modules and implement cross-account IAM, least-privilege, SCP, and tagging governance.
- Build and maintain secure, reproducible CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments and develop automation to reduce manual work.
- Operationalize solutions from proof of concept through production with an emphasis on repeatability and maintainability.
- Monitor, scale, and troubleshoot production resources; participate in on-call rotation, root-cause analysis, and incident retrospectives.
- Establish observability practices using metrics, dashboards, alerting, and related tooling.
- Implement security controls and automated security checks supporting FedRAMP and HIPAA compliance, and partner with SecOps on IAM and audit evidence.
- Contribute to FinOps initiatives by identifying and remediating cost anomalies and balancing cost, performance, and utilization.
- Use and evaluate AI coding and operations tools for infrastructure development, scripting, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Document cloud standards, guardrails, and reference architectures and advise product teams on AWS delivery and tooling improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience with deep AWS expertise, including EC2, EKS/ECS, IAM, VPC, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch.
- Strong infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent tools.
- Experience with IAM design patterns, cross-account access, least-privilege enforcement, containerized cloud-native environments, and Kubernetes/EKS.
- Configuration management experience with Salt, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet, including SaltStack or Ansible experience.
- Strong scripting ability with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience integrating security tooling into development and deployment processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills for explaining technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience includes regulated environments such as FedRAMP, HIPAA, or SOC 2; FinOps and cost governance; AWS certifications; healthcare technology; and AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor.
