Base Salary
$185k - $254k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, architect, develop, test, and maintain complex scalable software systems.
- Plan and drive multidisciplinary system development initiatives integrating multiple subsystems.
- Lead system requirements derivation, decomposition, allocation, tracing, management, and architecture definition.
- Define and document system concepts of operation and resolve conflicting system requirements.
- Plan, define, and lead development milestone reviews.
- Oversee system integration and verification activities to ensure system functionality and performance.
- Identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
- Define and implement corporate Systems Engineering policies and processes.
- Write optimized, maintainable code; conduct unit tests; participate in code reviews; and maintain technical documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree; alternatively, a master's degree with 10 years of experience.
- Typically 12+ years of related experience.
- Extensive expertise in multiple programming languages and software development principles, with the ability to design, architect, implement, and test complex software systems.
- Expert knowledge of software engineering processes, advanced algorithms, domain-specific design patterns, performance tuning, system scalability, secure coding, and system architecture principles.
- Experience with Agile, Scrum/Kanban, or Kanban/Scrum development methodologies.
- Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship are required.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Extensive kernel-level programming experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, and Java and their ecosystems is preferred.
- Experience with scripting languages, automation tools, large-scale software projects, performance profiling, debugging complex systems, and static analysis tools is preferred.
- Experience with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and SysML/UML is preferred.
- Strong analytical, strategic-thinking, decision-making, communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
