Responsibilities
- Design and build new Go services, including API design, data modeling, concurrency, observability, and operational concerns.
- Maintain, test, refactor, and reduce technical debt in legacy PHP applications without disrupting existing behavior.
- Migrate functionality from PHP to Go using parity testing, controlled cutovers, and rollback plans.
- Own technical direction and sequence modernization work according to risk and value.
- Use agentic coding tools to specify, decompose, implement, constrain, and rigorously review generated code.
- Build repository instructions, architectural conventions, MCP servers, tool integrations, and test harnesses that support reliable agentic development.
- Own production delivery through GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring, alerting, and on-call responsibilities.
- Mentor engineers and share agentic coding practices, language and design patterns, prompts, and playbooks.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience shipping and maintaining production software with strong programming fundamentals.
- Experience working with PHP, including legacy frameworks, procedural code, incomplete tests, and limited documentation.
- Working knowledge of Go or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and write idiomatic code in new languages.
- Daily hands-on experience with agentic coding tools and the ability to evaluate their output critically.
- Knowledge of unit, integration, and contract testing, including validation of rewritten functionality against original behavior.
- Comfort with SQL, relational data modeling, caching, and messaging patterns.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, preferably GitLab CI, and Bash or shell scripting.
- Preferred experience includes monolith-to-services or language migrations, agentic workflows, developer tooling, MCP servers, LLM API orchestration, performance and reliability work, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or multiple LLM providers and models.
