Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and APIs for custody, tokenization, transfer agency, and digital cash or settlement workflows.
- Build and operate containerized Java microservices on Kubernetes, including deployments, services, secrets, resource management, and troubleshooting.
- Design versioned, backward-compatible, documented API contracts aligned with enterprise API development, security, and publishing standards.
- Implement secure integration patterns and partner with product, architecture, and security stakeholders.
- Contribute to digital asset data interfaces, event streams, and integrations with traditional custody, cash, and fund-accounting platforms.
- Build automated unit and integration tests and maintain strong quality gates.
- Support production readiness through observability, incident triage, performance tuning, and resilience improvements.
- Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to deliver production-grade services.
Requirements
- Strong experience building Java backend APIs in financial services or closely related regulated domains.
- Hands-on expertise with Spring Boot and Spring components for web, security, and data access.
- Experience deploying and operating containerized Java microservices on Kubernetes, such as AKS.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and ORM or data-access patterns.
- Ability to design API contracts with disciplined versioning, backward compatibility, and documentation.
- Strong understanding of security-first API engineering, authentication and authorization, secure integration, and least privilege.
- Experience with code reviews, automated testing, operational readiness, and production-grade service delivery.
- Experience working effectively with multi-location engineering teams.
- Preferred: experience with tokenization, wallet management, smart contract management, custody workflows, hybrid traditional-digital architectures, standards-based messaging, event or data distribution, digital asset ecosystems, third-party DLT providers, and HSM-adjacent infrastructure.
- Preferred: exposure to Node.js for frontend support or backend-for-frontend services and enterprise Java integrations.
