
Java API Developer, Assistant Vice President
State StreetResponsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and APIs for digital asset product flows.
- Build API integrations supporting client onboarding, application-to-service connectivity, and centralized integration hubs and secure gateways.
- Implement API contracts that meet enterprise security, documentation, publishing, versioning, and backward-compatibility standards.
- Partner with product, architecture, and security stakeholders on policy-aware integration patterns.
- Contribute to digital asset data interfaces and event-stream integrations for reporting, analytics, and operational workflows.
- Build and maintain unit and integration tests and enforce quality gates for regulated processing services.
- Deploy and operate containerized Java microservices on Kubernetes, including production troubleshooting.
- Support observability, incident triage, performance tuning, production readiness, and resilience improvements.
- Collaborate across teams on integrations between digital asset services and traditional custody, cash, and fund-accounting platforms.
Requirements
- Strong experience building Java backend APIs in financial services, ideally involving digital assets, custody, cash, fund services, or regulated platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Spring components for web services, security, and data access.
- Experience deploying and operating containerized Java microservices on Kubernetes, including Deployments, Services, Secrets, resource requests and limits, and cluster troubleshooting.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and ORM or data-access patterns.
- Ability to design and implement versioned, backward-compatible, well-documented API contracts.
- Strong understanding of security-first API engineering, authentication and authorization, secure integration paths, and least-privilege practices.
- Experience delivering production-grade services through code reviews, automated testing, and operational-readiness practices.
- Ability to work effectively with multi-location engineering teams.
- Experience with digital asset components such as tokenization, wallet management, smart contract management, or custody workflows is preferred.
- Familiarity with traditional-and-digital integration models, standards-based messaging, hybrid architectures, event and data distribution patterns, and digital asset ecosystem concepts is preferred.
- Exposure to Node.js for frontend support or lightweight backend-for-frontend services is preferred.
