Responsibilities
- Lead or assist with software development projects through the phase-gate process.
- Write significant amounts of software code meeting project requirements and documentation and design standards.
- Create software design specifications and contribute to overall software architecture.
- Correct defects identified through QA and systems testing.
- Assist with requirements gathering and product definition activities.
- Support field test personnel after development.
- Coach other engineers and occasionally direct testing and lab support personnel.
- Contribute to oversight and review of software team work product.
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree and 5–8 years of experience.
- Alternatively, requires no degree and 9–12 years of combined education and equivalent work experience.
- Requires advanced knowledge gained through education and work experience, with the ability to lead moderately complex projects and review the work of lower-level professionals.
