Responsibilities
- Design, scale, and performance-tune GraphQL APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries powering casino lobbies, game launches, and real-money wagering flows.
- Own high-scope technical problems by drafting proposals and presenting them to leadership and partner teams.
- Design, architect, and deliver features and third-party game-provider integrations end to end.
- Identify production bottlenecks and risks and drive changes that improve platform scalability.
- Set up and refine monitoring and alerting in DataDog.
- Investigate and remediate CPU hotspots, latency regressions, and other production performance issues in high-throughput services.
- Participate in on-call rotations and own release cycles end to end.
- Mentor engineers through technical specifications, pairing, and code review.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- At least 2 years of experience building applications in Elixir.
- At least 2 years of experience designing and evolving GraphQL schemas.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
- Experience with production systems at scale, load testing, tracing, and performance improvement.
- Experience with relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized service environments.
- Comfort working in the terminal, with Git, GitHub or similar tools, and an editor of choice.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent.
- Experience with background job processing such as Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalk.
- Experience with asynchronous event-handling infrastructure such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience authoring technical specifications, runbooks, and cross-team design documents.
- Nice-to-have experience includes iCasino, sports betting, regulated real-money domains, game-provider or wallet integrations, hexagonal architecture, Domain Driven Development, open-source contributions, startup experience, or casino, sports, and esports interest.
