Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Multimodal AI

Responsibilities
- Build and improve multimodal AI pipelines for healthcare documents, OCR output, transcripts, and workflow context.
- Design LLM-powered extraction, classification, validation, and routing systems for clinical and operational workflows.
- Improve OCR and document intelligence through schema extraction, confidence scoring, error handling, and recovery from low-quality inputs.
- Develop voice AI workflows for outreach, transcript understanding, post-call extraction, and follow-up automation.
- Create evaluation harnesses, benchmarks, and regression tests covering extraction quality, hallucination prevention, workflow accuracy, and model changes.
- Choose between LLMs, deterministic logic, retrieval, human review, and hybrid systems to maximize quality and reliability.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and ship production systems.
- Optimize model and infrastructure cost, latency, observability, and reliability while deploying into AWS and serverless environments.
Requirements
- Strong experience building production AI systems involving LLMs, OCR, and unstructured-data workflows.
- Proven experience shipping applied AI products rather than only prototyping offline models.
- Deep familiarity with prompting, structured outputs, tool use, retries, fallbacks, guardrails, and model evaluation.
- Experience with document intelligence, including OCR pipelines, extraction, classification, post-processing, and confidence-based review flows.
- Experience with voice or conversational AI, transcripts, call automation, or conversational extraction.
- Strong Python proficiency and comfort working with APIs, queues, and backend services in production codebases.
- Experience deploying and operating AI systems in AWS or similar cloud environments, including serverless or event-driven architectures.
- Strong evaluation, benchmarking, monitoring, and quality-assurance instincts for real-world AI systems.
- Ability to design robust systems for structured and unstructured data containing noisy, incomplete, and ambiguous inputs.
- Healthcare, claims, revenue cycle, regulated operations, human-in-the-loop workflows, telephony, speech systems, internal operational tools, or applied NLP experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with comparing and routing across model providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Bedrock is preferred.
