Base Salary
$213k - $263k/yr
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with ML scientists in perception, planning, research, and simulation to identify system and model performance opportunities.
- Lead projects from proposal through execution, including project planning, mentoring junior engineers, goal ownership, and status reporting.
- Analyze and improve ML system workloads on cloud infrastructure and self-driving vehicles.
- Apply model optimization, efficient deep learning techniques, and ML software improvements to Waymo’s ML systems.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, deep learning, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of technical lead experience involving project plans, customer-team engagement, mentoring, goals and execution, and status reporting.
- At least 5 years of experience developing solutions in ML systems or the ML software stack, including frameworks, runtime libraries, or ML compilers.
- Deep understanding of ML system architecture, performance analysis, and related tools.
- Strong Python or C++ programming skills.
- Preferred: PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, deep learning, or a related field.
- Preferred: familiarity with GPU or TPU architecture and experience with GPU or TPU hardware and related system software.
- Preferred: deep knowledge of model optimization or efficient deep learning techniques for foundation models or LLMs.
