Senior Software Engineer (Forward Deployed)

Base Salary
$180k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with delivery leaders to scope technical solutions for operational problems.
- Identify workflow optimizations through engagement with customer problems and build stable, scalable solutions.
- Design and implement AI-powered workflows using LLMs, embedding models, retrieval systems, and automation tools.
- Translate inconsistent data, latency requirements, and other real-world constraints into engineering solutions.
- Iterate quickly based on feedback from operators and clients.
- Build reusable tooling and infrastructure to accelerate future deployments.
- Interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders while owning projects end-to-end.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience, including significant experience building data, ML, or backend systems.
- Deep proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI, Pinecone, and related ecosystems.
- Experience with full-stack and API-based deployment using Docker, FastAPI, Kubernetes, GCP, and AWS.
- Experience with workflow orchestration libraries, pub/sub systems such as Kafka, and schema governance.
- Expertise in data governance and operations, including Unity Catalog, policy management, cluster and job orchestration, data contracts, quality enforcement, Delta/ETL pipelines, and replay processes.
- Strong product and system design instincts, including the ability to translate business needs into technical architecture.
- Experience building usable systems from messy data and ambiguous requirements.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to own projects from scoping through deployment in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
- Willingness to be on-call for customers when situations arise.
- Ability to travel potentially 25% of the time, primarily across North America with occasional international roll-outs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
