Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and technical direction for matching and AI agent systems.
- Design and build high-scale, low-latency production services for retrieval and recommendations.
- Drive the evolution of Bumble’s matching architecture.
- Collaborate with ML engineers to productionize models for continuous improvement.
- Define integration strategies for AI agents within the Bumble experience.
- Make technical tradeoffs across software, machine learning, and LLM-based approaches.
- Set engineering standards for system design and responsible AI.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver end-to-end user experiences.
- Mentor senior engineers and influence architecture beyond your team.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in building large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong track record in designing production recommendation and matching systems.
- Experience integrating machine learning models into real-time product experiences.
- Understanding of tradeoffs between traditional software and ML systems.
- Experience building AI-native product capabilities.
- Ability to operate at both architectural and implementation levels.
- Proven ability to influence technical strategy across multiple teams.
- Strong product instincts to translate user needs into technical systems.
- Commitment to building AI systems responsibly.
- Typically requires 12+ years of experience.
- High level of AI fluency and ability to guide teams in embedding AI.
