Responsibilities
- Lead large or complex client deployment projects and product engineering initiatives.
- Install, configure, and manage operating systems and AWS services.
- Build and maintain custom machine images, centralized configuration management, scalable environments, and auto-scaling capabilities.
- Maintain high availability, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and resolve problems and known errors.
- Provide 24x7 fourth-line support for AWS clients through an on-call rota.
- Advise pre-sales architects on AWS solutions and keep clients and partners informed of work status and issues.
- Improve automation, processes, and ways of working; train team members and support other teams.
- Act as team leader and technical escalation point in the manager’s absence.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience supporting highly customer-focused mission-critical environments, such as high-profile websites or enterprise infrastructure.
- At least 3 years of experience engineering, architecting, or supporting AWS solutions.
- Excellent operating-system knowledge, with experience in Linux or Windows and basic knowledge of the other.
- Current AWS Associate and Professional certifications and at least one AWS Certified Specialty certification, such as Security or Networking.
- Experience implementing and supporting AWS services including EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, RDS, IAM, Route 53, CloudFront, ElastiCache, and WAF.
- Scripting ability in one or more of Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Perl.
- Experience with scalable and auto-scaled environments, automation and configuration management tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible.
- Experience with Git and containerized environments such as ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, or Docker; Jenkins or other CI/CD pipeline experience is useful.
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP and experience working in an ITIL environment are beneficial.
- A computing-related degree is preferred, or equivalent ability and knowledge; strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to deliver supportable solutions, communicate effectively, act as a team role model, and remain client-focused, self-motivated, and results-driven.
