Responsibilities
- Lead large or complex client deployment projects.
- Lead product engineering projects that further develop the service.
- Provide AWS subject matter expertise to pre-sales architects.
- Install, configure, and manage operating systems and AWS services.
- Build and maintain custom machine images and centralized configuration management for repeatable, auto-scaled environments.
- Maintain high availability and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Communicate work and issue status to clients and partners.
- Investigate and resolve problems and known errors within the problem management process.
- Improve automation, processes, and ways of working.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rota providing fourth-line support for AWS clients.
- Keep current with AWS services and developments.
- Mentor new team members, train other teams, and act as a team leader and technical escalation point when the manager is absent.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience supporting highly customer-focused mission-critical environments is essential.
- At least 3 years of experience engineering, architecting, or supporting AWS solutions.
- Excellent operating system knowledge with experience in Linux or Windows and basic knowledge of the other; MCSE, RHCE, or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
- Experience implementing and supporting AWS instances and services including EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, RDS, IAM, Route 53, CloudFront, ElastiCache, and WAF.
- Current AWS Associate and Professional certifications and at least one AWS Certified Specialty certification, such as Security or Networking.
- Experience with scalable and auto-scaled environments using CloudFormation or Terraform and Ansible is beneficial or can be gained.
- Scripting ability in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Perl.
- Experience with Git for version control is useful.
- Experience supporting containerized environments including ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, or Docker.
- Experience with Jenkins or another CI/CD pipeline technology is useful or can be gained.
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP.
- A computing-related degree is preferred, or equivalent ability and knowledge.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, customer focus, self-motivation, and the ability to implement supportable solutions.
- Experience in an ITIL environment is beneficial.
