Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and architecture for complex, cross-team backend systems.
- Design and implement complex features for Casino and Sportsbook applications.
- Own the quality, scope, and timeliness of deliverables.
- Advise Engineering Managers, Technical VPs, Product Managers, Principal Engineers, and Architects on technical and roadmap decisions.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor Developers, Senior Engineers, and Staff Engineers.
- Champion adoption of AI-assisted development practices and tools across the engineering organization.
- Help teams build scalable, multi-region systems capable of processing large volumes of transactions and user interactions.
Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of professional work experience.
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Experience supporting systems with large traffic volumes and demanding scalability requirements.
- Deep understanding of AWS Cloud technologies and scalable multi-region application design.
- Experience with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or CockroachDB.
- Experience with streaming technologies such as Amazon Kinesis and Kafka.
- Experience with message queues such as SQS, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with microservice and service-oriented architectures.
- Experience working in an agile development environment.
- Casino industry or equivalent regulated-industry experience, such as banking, is preferred.
- Experience championing AI-assisted engineering practices within an engineering organization is preferred.
