Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI-powered features by integrating LLMs and building AI agents.
- Design and implement end-to-end frontend and backend services, features, and business logic.
- Build and maintain MCP servers that expose domain data and capabilities as tools for AI agents.
- Implement RAG workflows using embeddings, chunking, vector databases, and retrieval orchestration.
- Instrument and optimize OpenAI integrations for production cost, latency, and accuracy.
- Collaborate with product, design, architecture, and delivery teams on user experiences and architectural alignment.
- Participate in technical design reviews and help shape engineering standards.
- Support presales processes and opportunity discovery with existing clients.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional backend or server-side engineering experience designing and building enterprise-scale software systems.
- 3+ years of experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
- At least 9 months of commercial experience building AI features using the OpenAI ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with the OpenAI Agents SDK, including tool or function calling, assistants, streaming interactions, and stateful workflows.
- Experience designing and implementing MCP servers for integrating external capabilities with LLMs.
- Experience with structured prompt architectures, evaluations, guardrails, observability, RAG, embeddings, chunking, vector search, and retrieval orchestration.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, data stores, secure and performant APIs, and production-grade backend systems.
- Fluency in React, Node.js, TypeScript, and OpenAI model integrations.
- Fluency in at least one non-JavaScript programming language; Java is advantageous.
- Experience with CI/CD, testing, monitoring, cloud infrastructure, streaming UIs, conversational UX, and SSE or WebSockets.
- Knowledge of prompt-injection defenses and responsible AI practices.
- Experience with other LLM providers such as Anthropic, Mistral AI, or Hugging Face is advantageous.
- Team leadership experience and understanding of semantic search are advantageous.
- Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and drive end-to-end feature implementation.
