Responsibilities

  • Lead firmware development for industrial automation products, including electric actuators.
  • Define and document embedded system architecture, requirements, and software specifications.
  • Develop and maintain low-level drivers, communication stacks, and real-time control algorithms.
  • Lead code reviews, unit testing, and system-level integration testing.
  • Support regulatory, functional safety, EMC, and compliance testing for embedded software.
  • Evaluate processors, RTOS platforms, and development tools.
  • Integrate firmware with hardware including sensors, ADC/DAC components, and communication interfaces.
  • Independently own complex firmware activities, make technical decisions, and report project progress to stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers in debugging and design quality.
  • Collaborate with hardware and mechanical engineers on integrated product development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, electronics, telecommunication, or computer engineering.
  • 12+ years of professional experience in embedded firmware development.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, RTOS platforms, embedded development toolchains, and driver-level hardware integration.
  • Experience with 16/32-bit microcontroller-based designs and I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB, and RS232/485 interfaces.
  • Experience troubleshooting embedded targets with test and measurement equipment such as digital oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers.
  • Experience with distributed version control and continuous integration.
  • Ability to lead complex firmware activities independently with minimal guidance.
  • Preferred qualifications include electric actuator firmware, global team collaboration, industrial communication protocols, IEC61508, low-power systems, battery management, EMC and electrical safety compliance, control loop theory, Python test automation, STM32, and unit and integration testing.
  • Experience contributing to firmware architecture or reusable platform components is a plus.
