Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of scalable Java services and APIs optimized for performance, resiliency, maintainability, and production operations.
- Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on Amazon Web Services with reliable, observable, and cost-aware scalability.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and engineering standards.
- Lead adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices with validation for correctness, performance, security, and compliance.
- Use Software Development Life Cycle tools and automation capabilities to improve delivery outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate recurring remediation work and improve application and system stability.
- Evaluate architectural designs and technical solutions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Advanced Java experience, including Spring Boot services in a microservices architecture.
- Experience with Java Core and Enterprise Edition, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Cloud.
- Experience with system design, application development, automated testing, and production operational stability.
- Hands-on experience building cloud-native applications on Amazon Web Services.
- Experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle and advanced understanding of agile methodologies, application resiliency, and security.
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
- Preferred: experience with Docker and Kubernetes for scalable service operations.
- Preferred: experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK for infrastructure as code and cloud provisioning automation.
