Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve reliable, performant, secure, and scalable platform building blocks.
- Own the technical direction, architecture, and roadmap for multiple platform areas.
- Lead architecture and design for distributed systems, services, APIs, and AI platform capabilities.
- Build reusable patterns for LLM integrations, agent workflows, tool calling, RAG, orchestration, reliability, security, observability, evaluation, scalability, latency, and cost management.
- Use AI, LLMs, coding agents, and agentic workflows across the software development lifecycle and establish guardrails for AI-assisted engineering.
- Lead cross-team initiatives, resolve architectural conflicts and dependencies, and influence engineering and product roadmaps.
- Drive continuous improvements in platform reliability, performance, security, developer experience, and operational efficiency.
- Mentor IC1–IC4 engineers and promote engineering best practices through code, design, and architecture reviews.
Requirements
- 11+ years of experience designing, building, shipping, and maintaining software products or platforms.
- B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing and building reliable, scalable, performant, and secure platforms or distributed systems.
- Experience building and integrating API-based platforms with strong understanding of REST and RPC-based systems.
- Strong experience building and maintaining microservices using one or more of Python, Golang, Java, or C++.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, service design, APIs, databases, observability, security, and reliability.
- Experience owning significant technical domains, influencing technical roadmaps, and leading complex cross-team initiatives.
- Ability to operate independently on ambiguous problems, identify issues proactively, and drive projects to completion.
- Ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong experience participating in peer code reviews, engineering design reviews, and architecture discussions.
