Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority for frontend architecture, patterns, tooling, and standards across product domains.
- Design, build, and maintain full-stack features spanning user interfaces, APIs, and backend services.
- Lead technical design reviews, architecture discussions, and RFC processes across engineering teams.
- Resolve systemic performance, reliability, scaling, debugging, and technical debt issues across the full stack.
- Define engineering practices for code quality, testing, observability, and deployment safety.
- Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product, and Design on roadmaps and technical feasibility.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, design feedback, and technical guidance.
- Conduct technical interviews and help establish frontend engineering standards.
- Communicate technical risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience with a strong frontend focus and principal- or staff-level impact.
- Deep expertise in React and Next.js, including App Router, SSR, SSG, ISR, streaming, and advanced rendering patterns.
- Strong TypeScript proficiency and experience with Tailwind CSS, component libraries, Zustand, Redux Toolkit, Zod, or equivalent tools.
- Experience designing and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs, including contracts, versioning, error handling, and type-safe client generation.
- Experience building AWS serverless backend services using API Gateway, Lambda, CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, S3, DynamoDB, or RDS.
- Strong knowledge of frontend performance, browser debugging, network tracing, distributed tracing, logging, and profiling.
- Experience with unit, component, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Familiarity with Turborepo, Nx, Vite, esbuild, and Webpack.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including RFC writing and design-review leadership.
- A Master's degree, financial-services experience, design-system ownership, micro-frontends experience, AWS event-driven architecture, React Native, GenAI frontend integrations, AWS certifications, open-source contributions, or organization-wide technical leadership is preferred.
