Responsibilities
- Design, build, and launch scalable AI-focused engineering capabilities, services, and modules.
- Own complex initiatives end to end, including technical solutioning, system design, implementation, production readiness, launch, and ongoing evolution.
- Write high-quality production code and build robust services and platforms using Python and distributed-systems principles.
- Lead system design, architecture, and technical solutioning discussions across engineering teams.
- Collaborate with the Google Gemini team and external technology partners to integrate NextIQ capabilities into partner platforms and environments.
- Partner with global Nextiva product and engineering teams, including teams supporting NextOS, on new AI initiatives.
- Identify technical risks, trade-offs, and dependencies and drive pragmatic engineering decisions.
- Establish engineering practices for scalability, reliability, observability, testing, and production readiness.
Requirements
- 9–15+ years of relevant software engineering experience with significant hands-on production software development experience.
- Deep hands-on expertise in Python, modern software engineering practices, system design, and architecture.
- Strong experience designing and building distributed systems and scalable backend services.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex software modules, services, or platform capabilities from design through launch.
- Experience taking technical initiatives from initial solutioning through development, deployment, and production launch.
- Ability and willingness to remain deeply hands-on at the Staff Engineer level.
- Experience influencing architecture and technical direction across teams without formal authority and making pragmatic decisions in ambiguous environments.
- Strong collaboration skills with internal engineering, product, and external partner teams, including globally distributed U.S.-based teams.
- Experience as a Staff Engineer or equivalent senior individual contributor is preferred.
- Experience building products, platforms, modules, or capabilities from the ground up is preferred.
- Experience building or integrating AI/ML, generative AI, LLM, or agentic AI capabilities into production applications is preferred.
- Experience integrating applications with modern AI platforms, APIs, or foundation models is preferred.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and raising engineering standards through technical leadership is preferred.
