Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, review, and debug secure, high-quality production software.
- Build and operate distributed backend services and event-driven architectures using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, messaging, storage, and workflow technologies.
- Lead adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices while establishing validation standards for correctness, performance, and security.
- Improve operational stability by identifying and automating recurring issue remediation.
- Apply software development lifecycle tools, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automation capabilities.
- Lead technical evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams concerning architecture, technical credentials, and system applicability.
- Coach engineers on responsible, secure, and compliant use of AI-assisted development tools.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating Java backend services.
- Experience with Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Spring MVC or WebFlux, and Spring Security.
- Experience designing distributed systems using caching, idempotency, retries, rate limiting, and circuit breakers.
- Hands-on experience with multiple AWS services, including ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, ALB, VPC, and Route 53.
- Experience with RDS or Aurora, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3, and ElastiCache.
- Experience implementing event-driven and streaming architectures with SQS, SNS, Kinesis, MSK or Kafka, and Step Functions.
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK, and Git-based pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Experience leading AI-assisted software development practices and validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Advanced understanding of agile delivery, CI/CD, application resiliency, and secure-by-design engineering.
- Strong communication, engineering judgment, and end-to-end service ownership in a regulated financial-services environment.
