Responsibilities

Build and support backend services for a specific part of Monzo’s banking platform.
Collaborate with product managers, marketers, researchers, designers, mobile and web engineers, analysts, writers, and other disciplines.
Design and maintain resilient software for distributed systems.
Work across engineering areas including Core Banking, Business Banking, Wealth, Borrowing, Growth, Payments, Platform, Fincrime, Security, and Expansion.
Make customer-focused, data-informed product decisions within a cross-functional squad.

Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product.
Interest in building products used by customers every day and taking a product-minded approach.
Comfort working in an ambiguous, collaborative environment.
Interest in distributed systems and resilient software.
Some experience with strongly typed languages such as Go, Java, C, or Scala.
Formal qualifications or a degree are not required.

Base salary of £105,000–£135,000 plus performance-tied incentive awards.
Flexible working from the London office or remotely within the UK, with no mandated office attendance and occasional London meetings.
Flexible working hours, part-time arrangements where possible, and meetings scheduled during core hours.
Relocation support to the UK and visa sponsorship.
£1,000 annual learning budget for books, training courses, and conferences.
Support for travel costs when engineers outside London are asked to attend the office.
