Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and iterate on mission, behavior, and motion planners for autonomous ground-support equipment.
- Own key technical decisions across the planning stack, including algorithm selection, interface definition, and system architecture.
- Prototype and evaluate optimization-based, search-based, and learning-augmented planning approaches and productionize the strongest solutions.
- Collaborate with perception, controls, localization, and systems engineering teams on integrated autonomous driving systems.
- Establish software development, functional safety, and systems engineering practices for the planning domain.
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and design discussions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, physics, or a related field.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing planning modules for autonomous systems deployed in production or real-world operations.
- Strong programming skills in C++ or Python and experience with Linux-based operating systems.
- Ability to independently drive ambiguous technical problems to well-architected solutions.
- Strong communication, proactiveness, and ownership.
- Preferred: MS or Ph.D. in computer science, robotics, or a related field.
- Preferred: mastery of Modern C++ 14 and beyond and safety-critical coding practices such as MISRA and ISO 26262.
- Preferred: 5+ years of industry experience in planning for robotic ground vehicles.
- Preferred: in-depth understanding of DDS frameworks such as ROS and ROS2 or other networking middleware.
- Preferred: experience working in startup environments.
