Base Salary

$197k - $243k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own projects end to end, from technical planning and architecture through launch, iteration, and measurable impact.
  • Maintain, improve, and scale the Roblox Party System for millions of concurrent users with a safety-first approach.
  • Integrate the Party System with matchmaking, recommendations, voice, economy, and other engineering systems in reusable, performant, and safe ways.
  • Collaborate with product, design, UXR, frontend, backend, and other engineering teams.
  • Maintain high quality while iterating against live production traffic and resolve team escalations.
  • Raise the team’s technical bar and improve the productivity of junior engineers.
  • Author technical design documents and align stakeholders through architectural review.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience with microservice architectures, or 4+ years with a graduate degree in computer science or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience building systems behind consumer-facing APIs serving large numbers of concurrent users.
  • Strong server-side development and design-principles knowledge, with proficiency in at least one compiled language such as C#, C++, Java, or Golang.
  • Experience addressing scalability and reliability challenges.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to navigate large codebases and produce production-ready code efficiently.
  • Ability to write clear, actionable technical design documents that align stakeholders and withstand architectural review.
  • Generalist mindset, product judgment, collaborative approach, and commitment to continuous technical growth.
