Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the GCP-based platform with the existing infrastructure engineer, improving resilience and reducing single points of failure.
- Establish developer experience practices by identifying engineering friction and improving tooling, automation, and processes.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, local development environments, and internal tooling.
- Introduce infrastructure-as-code and platform engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and curriculum teams to address platform limitations.
- Contribute to AI tooling adoption and help shape the company’s engineering practice.
- Set technical direction for the platform with the Head of Engineering.
- Secure infrastructure and data according to applicable standards.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and errors, and independently implement fixes.
Requirements
- Hands-on cloud platform experience, particularly with GCP.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or an equivalent tool.
- Demonstrated success meaningfully improving CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with developer experience, local development tooling, observability, and internal platforms.
- Broad platform-stack experience rather than narrow specialization.
- Exposure to Kubernetes clusters.
- Solid Linux experience and comfort using the CLI and debugging servers via SSH.
- Comfort with scripting such as Bash.
- Experience with Python-based software and environments is desirable.
- Experience in data-heavy engineering environments is desirable.
- Experience working with Kubernetes custom resource definitions and creating operators is desirable.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible is desirable.
- Ability to work as a generalist, self-starter, collaborative technical owner, and effective communicator.
