Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend services powering the core marketplace platform.
- Develop and maintain reliable, cost-efficient GCP infrastructure using Terraform.
- Build integrations with utility data sources, supplier APIs, and third-party services across multiple energy markets.
- Create real-time data pipelines for rate monitoring and market intelligence.
- Translate system and supplier needs into high-performing, resilient experiences with product and cross-functional partners.
- Take product ownership of selected features and projects when needed.
- Collaborate with a small engineering team shipping multiple production deployments daily.
- Use AI tools and workflows and help improve the team’s AI-augmented development practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with production systems at scale.
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript expertise, including Node.js backend services; Nest.js familiarity is a plus.
- Hands-on experience managing cloud environments, including serverless and event-driven systems using native cloud tooling; GCP experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with Terraform and practical experience managing real cloud environments.
- Comfort with databases, SQL, preferably Postgres, API design, and asynchronous processing patterns.
- Active use of AI coding tools and enthusiasm for AI-augmented development.
- Ability to work with ambiguity, ship quickly, and maintain quality.
- Interest in energy, climate technology, or marketplace products is a strong plus.
