Responsibilities
- Drive long-term architectural strategy for Blackbaud’s enterprise products while balancing scalability, performance, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Design and evolve foundational services supporting event management and fundraising.
- Provide technical leadership across teams, guide design decisions, and uphold consistent engineering standards.
- Lead legacy modernization, cloud-native adoption, refactoring, decomposition, and technical debt reduction.
- Establish responsible AI-assisted practices for coding, code reviews, testing, legacy analysis, and production risk identification.
- Promote reliability, observability, automated testing, performance tuning, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with Product, Security, Compliance, and Support to deliver compliant and maintainable solutions.
- Mentor Principal and Senior Engineers and foster technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leadership on complex enterprise-scale systems.
- Deep experience designing and delivering enterprise software and leading architectural discussions across multiple teams.
- Strong expertise in Java, Oracle, and modern backend architecture patterns.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL data stores such as SQL Server and Cosmos DB, plus API design.
- Proficiency with Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience building and operating cloud-based SaaS platforms, preferably on Microsoft Azure.
- Understanding of data modeling, transactional systems, reporting, integration patterns, automated testing, performance tuning, and production monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar, including code authoring, refactoring, reviews, test generation, and legacy modernization.
- Experience establishing team-level AI usage expectations and guardrails for quality, security, and compliance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, collaborative working style, mentoring ability, and flexibility to work hours required by business priorities.
