Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, including dataset and model design, development, evaluation, deployment, evolution, and monitoring.
- Build lightweight data pipelines and dbt tables that transform raw data into production-ready datasets without owning heavy ETL infrastructure.
- Develop ML applications for property-level risk, cost assessment, portfolio risk aggregation, and aerial image analysis.
- Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to architectural quality across the Kafka, AWS EKS, Python, Django/FastAPI, Postgres, and GitHub Actions stack.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Operations, and Business teams to build reliable solutions aligned with real-world business problems.
- Measure and communicate model quality, bias, performance, and business impact with scientific rigor.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience applying machine learning methods to production problems.
- Ability to work from raw, previously unexplored data through lightweight data preparation, feature engineering, modeling, deployment, and monitoring.
- Ability to work independently in complex codebases and ambiguous, product-oriented environments.
- Strong software engineering, architectural design, modeling, evaluation, and production deployment skills.
- Experience as a team lead or owning end-to-end deployment is a plus.
- Actuarial experience or experience applying models to risk evaluation and aggregation problems is preferred.
- Experience in computer vision and image analysis is preferred.
- Experience with dbt or similar modern data transformation tools is preferred.
