Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain production-grade Python software and custom tools for network infrastructure management.
- Champion software engineering practices including code reviews, unit testing, and clean, maintainable code.
- Establish an automated testing strategy and evaluate appropriate tools and frameworks.
- Extend the network Source of Truth through custom data models, plugins, and state-driven automation jobs.
- Build and manage GitLab CI/CD pipelines for testing and deploying network changes.
- Collaborate on Ansible playbooks and roles for reliable, maintainable network configuration automation.
- Support and upskill team members in software engineering capabilities.
Requirements
- Advanced Python proficiency and strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and testable, maintainable code.
- Solid experience with Python testing methodologies and designing testing strategies for network automation applications and APIs.
- Strong experience designing, consuming, and integrating REST and GraphQL APIs using Django REST Framework, FastAPI, and Pydantic.
- Proficiency with data structures, serialization, and templating languages including JSON, YAML, and Jinja2.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Experience with Git and GitLab, including maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience using Ansible for network configuration automation.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals including TCP/UDP, IP, DNS, routing, switching, subnetting, and VLANs.
- Desirable familiarity with PyATS, Cisco Catalyst Center or ACI, Nautobot or similar Django-based applications, mock or factory_boy, Linux/RHEL, and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.
- British citizenship is required, and the successful candidate must undergo BPSS checks and obtain DV clearance.
