Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Build and modernize production-ready systems supporting medical device review for a federal public health agency.
- Develop Java applications using Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, and RESTful web services.
- Develop responsive and accessible user interfaces with modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Design databases, write and optimize SQL, and perform database performance tuning.
- Develop migration strategies from legacy Java technologies to modern frameworks.
- Provide production support and resolve technical issues.
- Evaluate emerging tools and techniques and recommend system, architecture, and scalability improvements.
- Use containerization, cloud deployment, source control, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tools.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of software development experience.
- At least 6 years of Java experience, including Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, or RESTful web services.
- At least 3 years of experience with a modern JavaScript framework such as React.js, Vue, or Angular.js, including responsive and accessible UI development.
- Experience using an AI IDE such as Claude Code or Cursor.
- Experience with database design and SQL optimization using databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with legacy Java technologies including J2EE, JSP, or Servlets and migration to modern frameworks.
- Experience with production support and issue resolution.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Jenkins.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Preferred experience includes Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence, automated testing frameworks such as Selenium and JUnit, stored procedures, advanced database performance tuning, and federal health agencies.
