Base Salary
$87k - $198k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and modernize production systems supporting medical device review for a federal public health agency.
- Develop Java applications using Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, and web services.
- Develop responsive and accessible user interfaces with modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Design databases and write and optimize SQL queries.
- Develop migration strategies from legacy Java technologies to modern frameworks.
- Provide production support and resolve technical issues.
- Deploy and operate applications using containers, cloud platforms, and DevOps tools.
- Evaluate emerging tools and techniques and recommend improvements for architecture, scalability, and resilience.
- Participate in automated testing and database performance tuning.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software development.
- 6+ years of Java experience, including Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, or RESTful web services.
- 3+ years of experience with a modern JavaScript framework such as React.js, Vue, or Angular.js, including responsive and accessible UI development.
- Experience using an AI IDE such as Claude Code or Cursor.
- Experience with database design and SQL optimization using technologies such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with legacy Java technologies including J2EE, JSP, or Servlets and with migration strategies to modern frameworks.
- Experience providing production support and issue resolution.
- Knowledge of containerization, cloud deployment, and DevOps tools and practices.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
- Preferred experience with Atlassian tools, automated testing frameworks, stored procedures, advanced database performance tuning, or federal health agencies.
