Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, administer, maintain, and support Redis environments across on-premises infrastructure and cloud-managed services.
- Perform installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, lifecycle management, and controlled production changes.
- Configure and operate Redis replication, clustering, persistence, snapshots, backups, retention, restoration, and recovery validation.
- Support multi-cloud in-memory database services, including provisioning, scaling, monitoring, networking, access management, and migrations.
- Monitor and tune availability, memory utilization, latency, throughput, replication health, capacity, configurations, data structures, client behavior, and workloads.
- Troubleshoot production incidents and database, operating system, storage, network, connectivity, and application-integration issues.
- Implement authentication, authorization, least-privilege access, network controls, auditing, credential integrations, vulnerability remediation, and compliance support.
- Develop automation for provisioning, configuration, deployment, patching, validation, monitoring, and recurring operations using source control, APIs, CI/CD, configuration management, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, capacity planning, change management, problem management, and reliability improvements.
- Create and maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, engineering standards, and operational documentation while collaborating with application, infrastructure, security, SRE, network, and cloud teams.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of database administration, database engineering, platform engineering, or related infrastructure experience.
- At least 4 years of hands-on Redis administration or engineering experience in production or enterprise environments.
- Working knowledge of Redis architecture, persistence, replication, clustering, memory management, security, maintenance, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with high availability, backup and recovery or persistence strategies, monitoring, capacity planning, and production support.
- Experience supporting at least one cloud-managed in-memory database service or comparable cloud database platform.
- Solid Linux administration and troubleshooting skills; RHEL or a comparable enterprise Linux distribution is preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot database, operating system, storage, network, client-connectivity, and application-integration issues.
- Experience executing upgrades, patching, migrations, platform changes, and controlled production releases.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.
- Preferred experience with multiple cloud in-memory offerings, Redis Enterprise or Redis Software, Ansible, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Terraform, GitHub, GitLab, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, native cloud monitoring, or Valkey.
