Responsibilities
- Design and develop in-vehicle applications for GM infotainment systems.
- Own the full software development lifecycle for OnStar Calling and Turn by Turn functionality, including requirements, design, development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Implement infotainment requirements using embedded software development frameworks in the Android environment.
- Participate in architecture, requirements, design, code, and test case reviews.
- Investigate software issues using Android system logs and vehicle signal logs such as CAN-bus logs.
- Collaborate across functional domains in an Agile/Scrum environment and produce technical documentation.
- Provide technical guidance, leadership, and mentoring to team members.
Requirements
- 8+ years of programming experience in Kotlin, Java, or C++.
- 3+ years of experience developing applications or middleware for mobile or automotive platforms such as Android.
- Strong foundation in object-oriented design, algorithms, and data structures, with experience working in large codebases.
- Proficiency in Android UI development, including Jetpack Compose, and design collaboration tools such as Figma.
- Experience with JUnit, Espresso, TDD, MVVM, Clean Architecture, JIRA, and Git.
- Experience with Android Automotive OS APIs including CarService, ConnectivityManager, TelephonyManager, and VehicleHAL.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Preferred qualifications include AOSP and Android internals experience, Android Studio and Linux development, navigation and GPS/GNSS, embedded systems, C/C++, automotive infotainment, CAN, LIN, ARXML, Ethernet, and automotive safety regulations such as ASIL and FMVSS.
- Experience providing guidance, leadership, and mentoring to team members, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
