Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize backend services and APIs using Java.
- Build platform components including API gateways and data access layers for Valkey, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
- Contribute to system architecture, technical direction, design reviews, scalability, reliability, and maintainability decisions.
- Work in a Kubernetes-based environment with containerized deployments and microservices orchestration.
- Collaborate with SDETs and QA engineers on unit, integration, and performance testing and automation.
- Conduct code reviews and enforce engineering quality standards.
- Collaborate with product managers, product owners, DevOps, and other engineering teams to deliver aligned features.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team learning and technical excellence.
- Implement observability practices using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
- Identify bottlenecks and optimize services for latency, throughput, and resource efficiency.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering, focused on distributed systems and API development.
- Proficiency in Java, including multithreading, memory management, and performance tuning.
- Experience with API design, REST, gRPC, and integration patterns.
- Hands-on experience with Valkey or Redis, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL, including query optimization and data modeling.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native deployment practices.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools for system reliability and traceability.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical excellence in Agile teams.
