Base Salary
$250k - $340k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of Replit’s money infrastructure across pricing, billing, payments, and monetization.
- Own and scale the global order-to-cash foundation for credit-based subscriptions, usage-based billing, marketplaces, in-app payments, and Agent commerce.
- Build flexible abstractions and APIs that support pricing and packaging experiments, SKUs, plans, and monetization models.
- Create localized, high-converting payment experiences across geographies.
- Build payment rails for apps, Agents, subscriptions, and new builder monetization primitives.
- Partner with finance, accounting, and data teams on accurate, auditable financial data specifications.
- Collaborate with billing platforms, payment processors, and other external monetization and payments partners.
- Develop monitoring, observability, and feedback systems to detect issues, resolve failures, and optimize financial flows.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend expertise.
- Hands-on experience building or operating subscription billing, usage-based billing, payment processing, SaaS taxation or compliance, tokenization, or credits-based systems.
- Strong system design skills for high-reliability and high-correctness financial domains.
- Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with significant business impact.
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills, including complex billing edge cases and failure modes.
- Experience building customer-facing billing or payment interfaces that simplify complex pricing models.
- Bonus: experience with Orb, Metronome, or Stripe Billing; coupons, referral programs, credits, or monetization growth systems; marketplaces, fintech integrations, multi-party payment flows; or globally distributed payment systems with localization and compliance considerations.
